Needle Jackets

The Art of Nada

Okay, I admit: I cannot look at a piece of scrap yarn and not put it on the needles and knit it. But they are cute, absolutely no effort and they do keep your needles together.

Skill: Easy

Supplies:
  • 4 yards worsted weight yarn*
  • US 10 1/2 needles
  • (2) 1/4" buttons
  • Yarn needle, scissors
  • Sewing thread & needle
Instructions:

1) Cast on 8 stitches.
Garter stitch (knit every row) for 2". Bind off. Fold project over to join the cast on edge to the bind off edge and use one of the yarn tails to seam up about 1" of edge. Weave in other yarn tail. Sew on 2 buttons over the seam. Tug at "lapels" and body for a sweater shape. Jacket your needles.

* I used Elizabeth Lavold "Baby Llama"; made in Peru; colors: 001 Ivory, 012 Kiwi.
